Renting a Cabana at a Disney Resort

I have been going to Disney with my family every year for the past 25 years. As we have gotten older, we started to venture out and try to find things to do outside of the 4 parks. We made a deal that every trip, we want to try something new. This last year, we stayed at Yacht Club and our “new” thing was to rent a pool-side cabana. Now when you hear the phrase “renting a cabana”, I bet Walt Disney World did not come to mind. Did you know that there are actually 4 resorts where you can rent a cabana? If you stay at The Contemporary, The Grand Floridian, Yacht Club, or Beach Club, you are able to rent a cabana for either a half or full day. The cabanas have lounge chairs and couches, counter space with storage underneath, a tv, fan, and a mini fridge stocked with coca cola products, bottles of water, and a fruit platter. There was also a small basket of snacks as well as a dessert platter that was dropped off later in the day. We had our own server where we could order drinks and food from the pool bar.

So was it worth it?

Absolutely! I’m just going to speak about my experience at the Yacht & Beach Club, but I’m sure the experiences at the other two resorts would be similar. For starters, the location of the cabanas were ideal for those with younger kids. They were situated by the shallow, kids area of the pool. If you are not familiar with the pool at Yacht & Beach Club, it is huge and has a sand bottom. The kids area isn’t a separate splash area like the other resorts, but an extension of the main parts of the pool. It’s huge, very shallow, and has a large mound of sand in the middle. It’s paradise for a kid! So if your kids will spend most of their time there, it’s a perfect spot to be close to monitor. It’s also great if you have one child that can play all day and one that may need a nap. Just close the curtains, turn on some cartoons, and you can have nap time outside! Traveling with no kids or older kids? No problem. Not all of the cabanas are next to the water. We actually ended up with the one furthest from the water and it was great. You didn’t feel like you were IN the water surrounded by kids. I was 7 months pregnant at the time, so I wanted a shaded area that I could pop into and relax. If you plan on going to Disney pregnant, add this to your must do list! Besides location, the service was excellent. The cast member that was assigned to us was outstanding. She checked in on us frequently, restocked our mini fridge, and was there if we needed anything. We had 5 adults and 1 child in our party and we all agreed that it was one of our favorite days of the trip. We kept saying how much we loved doing this and that we would absolutely do it again. Disney World vacations consist of early mornings, late nights, and record breaking step counts. Booking a cabana adds a little more relaxation to a very busy vacation. If this sounds like something you would love to do on your next Disney trip, look into staying at one of those 4 resorts!
